Tales of the Heroes Twin Brave - New Screenshots, Info

The official site says that you fight alongside a partner character, facing off against masses of enemies. You'll be able to make use of group combos and a "partner follow" (I'm not sure what this is -- maybe just your partners being linked up to follow each other?).

The game will have 2 characters from each of 15 Tales games. Each will have an original story where they're the main character.

Ys Origin English Patch Released, Download Now

Ys Origin is a Japanese Action RPG released in 2006 for Microsoft Windows by Nihon Falcom. It’s the seventh game in the Ys series but as a prequel, it’s the first in terms of chronology. It’s also the first game in the series not to revolve around the adventures of Adol Christin, the series protagonist.

Taking place 700 years before the events of “Ancient Ys Vanished” (Ys I & II), this game tells much of the back-story of Ys, Darm Tower, the Black Pearl, the twin goddesses and the six priests. The game revolves around three characters as they journey through Darm Tower: Yunica Tovah, Hugo Fact and Thor Fact. Each character has their own motives for climbing the tower and playing through with all three characters will reveal the entirety of the events taking place.

The patch translates all the game (texts, graphics and executables) into English. It removes the region check and the Windows Japanese version check. It’s fully playable now. Enjoy it!

Original PS2 Voices May Return For Silent Hill HD Collection

The new voices for Silent Hill 2 in Konami’s upcoming Silent Hill: HD Collection may be nixed in favor of the old. According to Guy Cihi, the original voice actor for game protagonist James Sunderland, the original voice actors are close to cutting a deal that will put the original voices in the HD release.

“I think we are close to a solution with Konami that will put the original voices back into the HD release,” Cihi wrote on Facebook. “Tomm Hulett called me. We had a nice chat. I am 95% sure we are going to get a Win-Win ending. All I need to do is find the damn bowling alley and talk to that guy… What was his name again?”

Grand Knights History Tops 110,000 Units

VanillaWare's PSP strategy title Grand Knights History has topped the 110,000 unit mark. Producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto released the figure today at the game's official blog, adding that the game has continued to see repeat orders. He did not say if he was referring to sales or shipments.

The game's network play is exceeding initial forecasts, Hashimoto also said. This has required the game's server staff to fight day and night to keep things running. He promised if there's a problem it will be addressed quickly.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Lost Report Episode 1

http://www.square-enix.co.jp/fabula/ff13-2/#/novels/lost_report

The Lost Report series are actually video clips rather than novellas. The clips are told from the perspective of Rygdea and Yaag Rosch and will span six episodes. The first volume, titled Gensou no Rakuen (roughly, "Fantasy Paradise"), provides a recap of the Cocoon world.

Square Enix has also posted the text of FFXIII's Episode i novella, which tells the aftermath of the game's story

Ys Celceta Sea of Trees Vita - Young Adol, Full Touch, More Monsters etc

Falcom will be putting the system's touch capabilities to full use. The rear touch panel can be used to issue commands to your allies. Touch is also being used for camera perspective, zooming in and out, and puzzle solving.

The Vita's advanced hardware is also benefitting the game. Character modeling is more detailed. Camera work promises to be more dynamic than that of Ys Seven. Music and environmental sound effects will be clearer, as they don't have to downgrade their samples (compared to the limitations they encountered on the PSP).

The more powerful hardware is also adding to gameplay, as the game can show more monsters simultaneously. In addition to having lots of giant beasts on the screen simultaneously, they can also have many minions surrounding giant bosses.

Kondo provided only a few hints about how the game will use the Vita's wireless capabilities. They're currently doing experimentation, but they'd like to have such things as boss time attacks.

Kondo also shared a few bits about the game's story. Main character Adol is still in his teens in Celceta Sea of Trees. This ends up being his second major adventure, and an episode that serves to form his identity as an adventurer.

One key element of the story will be Adol's memory loss. This will also feature in the gameplay, as Adol will recall things as you advance in the maps.

As 2012 is the 25th anniversary of the Ys series, Falcom is targeting a 2012 release for Ys Celceta Sea of Trees.

Ys Celceta Sea of Trees Vita - Will Be Much Better Than Ys SEVEN

In a Dengeki PlayStation interview this week, CEO Toshihiro Kondo reveals that his company is developing a PSP game alongside PlayStation Vita's Ys Celceta Sea of Trees. Kondo also hints that the PSP title may come out ahead of the Vita Ys game.

Celceta Sea of Trees, which was announced at Tokyo Game Show a couple of weeks back, is the main focus of Dengeki's Falcom coverage this week. A few intriguing points from the Kondo interview include:

. The game will offer a refreshing/invigorating gameplay feel that is far beyond that of Ys VII.

. On PSP, Falcom had to lower their sound quality due to memory constraints. This is not a problem on Vita.

. The camerawork will be more dynamic than that of Ys VII.

. They're planning on improving the visual quality straight through the end of development with things like effects.

Uncharted Started As A Fantasy Game

Uncharted, one of the most recognized series on PlayStation platforms (if not the most recognized), started development as a ‘fantasy’ title, according to former Naughty Dog employee Don Poole.

That is, until Sony stepped in and pointed the game in its current direction, influenced by the success of Xbox 360′s “gritty shooters,” which Sony needed to compete with.

“We were talking about a more ‘realistic’ game in terms of how it was modeled and rendered but the concepts were much more far out. One was a forest world where the antagonists lived underground,” explained Poole to issue 209 of Play Magazine (via NowGamer).

“It had elements of Tolkien in for sure. Sony kept pushing for a more realistic game in all respects. The market had changed a lot by then. The demographic was older and gritty shooters were really dominating. Sony wanted very much to get into that market share, it pushed all of its developers in this direction.

“So the big push from Sony, not just at Naughty Dog but at all of Sony’s development companies at the time, was to craft games for PlayStation 3 that were much more realistic. The pressure from Xbox’s success with gritty shooters was a very real force on our direction at that time.”

The switch to realism wasn’t immediately favored by the Naughty Dog team, however, who are known for crafting more eccentric titles like Jak and Crash Bandicoot.

“We had a lot of internal grumbling about the realist bent. More of the old dogs were from the Crash and Jak era and preferred that more whimsical style. But alas, that was a losing battle.”

The Witch and the Hundred Cavalrymen - Nippon Ichi's New PS3 RPG

The game is set in a forest where the marsh witch and forest witch are at war. One day, the marsh witch comes across the legendary Hyakkihei and summons it into battle. She hopes to rid of her long time rival, the forest witch, and fill the world with marshland.

The marsh witch, whose name is Metallica, is the main character and the story’s central focus. You don’t control her, through. You control a Hyakkihei, one of the legendary “Hundred Soldiers.” Metallica can physically summon only one of these soldiers for a long period, but can also summon other soldiers for brief periods. The main Hyakkihei is meant to be a reflection of the player, so he won’t speak. He is small in frame but wields a large sword. He has lost both his ability to cast magic and his sense of morality. Though summoned by Metallica, he does not fully accept her as his master.

The Witch and the Hundred Soldiers is an action RPG set in a seamlessly connected open-world, where enemies are pursued in hack-and-slash style combat. NIS is aiming to create a game with a refreshing, smooth action feel and balanced difficulty level. It’s progression is stage-based, but once cleared you can go back and find paths to new stages.

.The game is a dark fantasy action RPG

.The world is open and seamless -- there won't be transitions between town and field

.The game will have a high degree of freedom -- the world is like a sandbox where you can do anything

.The visuals are fully 3D. The perspective is from above.

.There will be a packed main story with over 30 hours of play

.There will be lots of sub quests

.There's no game over. But, if you die, you lose your items

.There's lots of blood, and the game's visual expression is dark. However, they won't be going too overboard with the grotesque.

.You can choose to side with good or evil

.Nippon Ichi is not using the experience it gained from making Disgaea and other titles. (Make sure you read that carefully!)

Dead Space Set In Blizzard Planet ?

Dead Space 3 is in development, according to a Siliconera source. The site has first details on the game, which they claim moves away from the spaceship setting, instead dropping Issac Clarke on the icy planet of Tau Volantis.

The game apparently starts with Issac crash-landing on the planet, and–thinking he’s the only survivor–he heads to an abandoned waystation for shelter from the snowstorm. There he finds a badly-injured survivor, who tells him there are other survivors at another facility. One of the group is Ellie, who returns from the first Dead Space. Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Impact Has Original Story Mode

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Impact retells the Naruto Shippuden story starting from the very beginning where Naruto rescues Gaara all the way to the Five Kage Summit. The plot unfolds from the perspectives of Naruto, Sasuke, and the Akatsuki.

CyberConnect2 managed to squeeze an original scenario made just for the PSP video game in there too. This week’s issue of V-Jump mentions a new side story, but doesn’t offer any details into the events. Naruto and Jiraiya are seen together, which gives us some idea about where the extra episode fits into the Naruto timeline.
